Carlisle State Park

It has been an interesting weekend of ups and downs. Friday morning I came down with some sort of stomach virus or food poisoning type thing. About 2/3 of the way through work on Friday I decided I'd had enough of trying to work through it and called Tighe and made him come home to help with Abby. This way, I was free to moan and groan and feel sorry for myself (boo hoo). Most of my blog readers should know, I don't take well to having a stomach ache. Saturday was mostly a wash since I was in recovery from Friday.

Sunday we did get out for a nice hike to Carlisle State Forest (Great Brook Farm). I've been going on walks here since I was a girl scout and I still really enjoy it. They have a working farm with animals to view, nice hiking trails and an ice cream stand in the summer. Today they actually had this 'family fun day' going on with hay rides, games and treats for the kids.

I forgot to mention we stopped by 16 thomas drive after for a fabulous Mexican dinner by El Jeffe Sougnez. Abby was happy to see her grammie and pipe.

How do you make a baby laugh?

You might want to turn up the volume on your computer before clicking play ;-)

Pumpkins

Pepe (pronounced pip-ey) grew these pumpkins in his garden. A few of them are bigger than Abby.

Funny Face

Abby likes to make this face now. I'm not sure why, but I think it must feel good to her nose or something.

Driving

Lincoln: "I'm outta here dude, women drivers..... jeesh"

Busy traffic day at 16 Thomas Drive

If my smile is cute enough, can I get a gas up for free?

Pretty please?
Beep Beep, can you move over please? This is the passing lane.

SItting up

Every morning now I let Abby play on the living room floor while I get my cereal and coffee.
When I came back in today she was like this, sitting up & all proud of herself.

The pillows behind her are one of my baby-proofing strategies, she bumped her head on the TV stand last week so now I'm paranoid. Abby seems to be feeling better and has been a much happier baby since yesterday morning (still a little snotty tho).

Meltdown

It's weird, Abby's been having some meltdowns lately. I think its either associated with sickness (she still has a crusty, green snotty nose) or teething. She usually goes to bed at 8 but last night at like 7pm she went into full meltdown mode (loud, scream like crying no matter what we did).

We ended up putting her to bed early, but she woke up several times before 11pm crying. I finally gave in and she got a dropper full of infant decongestant and motrin. After that she went back to sleep and seems happy today.

I think the hardest part of being a parent is the lack of ability to predict anything (especially baby's mood). Work's been pretty stressful lately and I have lots to do, but when you come home at night and the baby's unhappy I drop everything everything else to take care of the Abby Project. Of course I don't mind, she's the best project I have ;-).

Here's a photo of her from this morning (taken with my laptop's camera).

Striped shirt

We went to a birthday party today. Abby had on this striped onsie from Grammie Janney. I'm realizing now that the weather is changing that we will have to go out shopping (yay) and get Abby some more warm clothes.

It's funny, I also got Abby all dressed up on Saturday, put her in the car, drove to Davis Square (where the party was going to be) and then I had an odd moment of clear thought. I called Tighe and asked him to look up the party invitation and it turns out the party was on Sunday, woops! Ah well, Abby and I got out for a drive anyway.

Here's a few photos of us after Emma's birthday party - Today.

Seems Better

Abby slept ok last night so hopefully she's on the mend. Her mom on the other hand has come down with her cold now.

Here's a few photos of us today. I have a new dress for work as well as a new hairdoo. Thank goodness for hair dye - nobody needs to see how I inherited the 'get grey hair at age 30 gene' from my dad. :-)

Zombie

I feel like a zombie today. Abby didn't have such a great night.
I think she has another cold (didn't she just have one last week?). She woke up at 12:30 and was awake until 3am, NOT A HAPPY BABY. Sleep deprivation sucks!

Baby Swing

Abby is saying "Yo Dude, why have you left me in this thing?"

Actually swinging now.

Why do we always capture Abby's photo with her mouth wide open?

Labor Day Weekend

The weather in Boston has been beautiful this weekend. Mid 70's-80's breezy and clear. Indian Summer/Fall has to be the best time of year in Boston. We headed to the Middlesex Fells on Saturday for a hike near the Sheepfold area. Can you believe that these photo's are taken less than a mile from my house and only ~4 miles from Boston?
