Bristol Visit

Abby and I went to visit the boys from Bristol this weekend. Long long stories about all of our trials on this trip but we persisted and ended up having an awesome time. I love getting to hang out with Kathy, Lance and Lincoln and just letting the kids play all day and do their thing.

A quick trip to the doctor - but thankfully a false alarm.

Messy playroom!

Abby the Artist

Abby just loves doing art projects at daycare. Once in a while I get out all the messy stuff so we can do it together. Here are some shots of abby making some Art :)

Doesn't she look so excited to have that ice cream cone?

Abby Winter 09

I just downloaded all of my phone photos from the last few months, here are a few of my favorites and the stories that go with them.

Joy gave Abby a girlie play handbag set complete with lipstick (which abby calls 'medicine' for some unknown reason). She loves acting like Mom in the morning and putting on her makeup.

We took a trip to the museum of science during school vacation week. It was pure Craziness! but in a fun way. Lance and Abby were getting along well that day. Lance is a totally sweet kid and loves helping out kids that are younger than him.

On Abby's birthday I took her to Toys r Us to pick out anything she wanted. No, I didn't buy her this Cadillac ;)

Checking out the vintage records in Harvard Square

Look I'm almost 3 feet tall!

Abby's First Haircut

I took Abby to Snip-its to get her first haircut. Totally fun!
I love her curls but I was starting to not be a huge fan of her baby-mullet ;). I asked them to chop off her uneven layers into a really cute little bob. Check out the during and after photos below...

What do you think?

Skiing in Conway

A little out of date but here are a few photos of the Miskell Ski weekend up in Conway. Abby was just totally cute on her skis for the first time ever. I think she has to be one of the littlest people I've ever seen on baby pink skis!

Abby and Ivy - looking pretty cute :)

Getting all bundled up!

Theresa and I getting a few rides in.

Waiting for the chair lift 'ride' for thei first time.

Going fast!

Apres Ski group shot.

There she goes down the real slope.

Don't I look just a little bit excited?

Abby Skis!

We were up visiting Theresa and Earl this weekend and tried Abby out on skis for the first time. Thanks to Grammie and Pepe for treating me to a ticket to ride too. Abby was a little unsure at first but within 3 runs down the bunny slope kept asking for 'one more time'. She really did awesome, keeping her balance and let me let go of her to go down by herself. Towards the end of the day Clinton and I took them up the chair lift and down the real slope. I really am totally, totally amazed and psyched at how well she did ! Proud mom :)

Here's a two second video of Abby and I on the real slope. I have to say after 4 years of snowboarding, going down the mountain on skiis feels pretty weird!

Love this photo

My mom took this photo of Abby at the museum this weekend, I think it totally captures her spirit.  Here is mommy's little sweetheart - almost two years old.   I can't believe she is growing up so fast!

Choosing Battles

Have the terrible twos arrived? Abby cracks me up lately, she wants to do so many things on her own, and proclaims either 'no help', 'i do it' or 'my turn' almost all the time. My mom says I was just like this as a kid, so maybe this is payback.

Today I chose not to fight the following two battles:
1. her insistance on wearing my old hippie hat (way too big for her)
and
2. bringing her toy broom to target (who knows what that was about?)

Totally wasn't worth fighting about either of these things and she was happy as a clam to have her broom with her at the store. The girl at the checkout almost made me pay for it though ;).

Ballet

Grammie came out to buy Abby her first pair of ballet slippers.  Of course she couldn't resist the pink tutu they had at the store :)  Thanks Grammie!

Trying an arabesque
Don't know where she found them, but my mom brought out my old pointe shoes.

A little rusty ;)

Here we are at the dance supply store, Abby is demanding:  "I need this" :)

And finally - dancing to "I dig dirt"

Little Ballerina

Yesterday I took Abby to her first dancing class. Big day!

The fresh pond ballet school has a little class for girls between the ages of 2 and 3. I couldn't stop smiling during the class because of the cuteness. Totally, totally fun, Abby looooved it :). They do all sorts of fun little games to music and pass out stuff to play with, like floaty scarves, maracas, stuff to jump over etc. Can't say enough about how cute & fun a room full of 2 year olds dancing is! Today she keeps saying 'rina, rina', which in Abby-ease means ballerina.

Sorry about the blurry photos - the teacher doesn't really let you take any during the class. I had to sneak these with my phone!

Weekend Adventures with Abby

Abby is such a busy girl these days :)

Ivy came on friday night for a sleepover..... here they are walking in Cambridge Common.
"Let's go Ivy.... keep up!"

"Um yes, I need every single one of these crayons, thank you"

Sharing a plate of fries with my Cuz..
I noted how amazingly quiet it got when the giant plate of french fries arrived.

There was this really cool Dyno competition at the rock gym on Saturday so we met up with the Cibulskis family to watch. All of us got into cheering for the climbers who were doing these crazy leaping moves. Here is Abby, trying a little rock climbing herself. Will she take after her mom and become obsessed with it?

Emma, Jack and Abby had a great time after the competition running around on the spongy floor & jumping on the crash pads. They were terribly cute when they all layed down together on the taped floor.

The snow rolled in on Saturday night so her highness had another lesson in tolerating the white cold & smooshy stuff. She still doesn't quite get that it is supposed to be fun... why doesn't she love it like the other kids?

On to Chestnut Hill for the afternoon so Abby could play in the indoor playground. She was quite interested in the slides & tunnels and all the other kids trying to release pent up energy on a cold & stormy day.

Time to make a phone call :) I've now successfully gotten her to say.. "hey, what's going on?"
and in response to that question, "not much ;)"

"Do I really have to clean mom? This vacuum is broken."
