A Time for Thanks

Tomorrow is thanksgiving. Tighe and I will be driving down to Southbridge, MA and as the song goes, over the river and thru the woods to grandmothers house we go :-) I just looked up some sites with info about the first thanksgiving. A few things crack me up.

We call it turkey day. In actuality, the first thanksgiving most likely had an assortment of poultry including SWANS !

The pilgrims had very little or no sugar so - no desserts and no pumpkin pie - booo hoooo

The indians probably provided venison to contribute to the feast (in addition to teaching the white folk how to grow corn)

In terms of it being a feast of thanks - it was most lkely not so. Such devoutly religious people most likely gave thanks through prayer and not like us modern folk - through offering food and pigging out. And oh - yes I plan to pig out tomorrow. I am pregnant after all.

I am thankful (beware some very mushy, some very shallow :-).......

1. For my husband, my family, and my friends- I'm so lucky to have a supportive group of people to laugh with, work with, play with, cry with and everything else.

2. That my baby is kicking away and letting me know she's healthy and thriving in my belly

3. That my kitchen renovation is turning the corner from demolition to re-construction (tonight my stove is plugged in again - yay)

4. That I have a job that I like and that gives me a sense of purpose when I'm there - and that I don't spend my days just making some company contribute to the bottom line.

5. That I am healthy and can do the things I enjoy - like dancing and hiking with my husband

Now for a few of my wishes:

1. I wish for an easy and uneventful labor and healthy delivery of my baby (stay tuned - Feb 07)

2. I wish that I could have a kitten (did you know I'm on the wait list to get one of those hyperallergenic cats?)

3. I wish that someday I will get to travel more (when the kid(s) are older) and distribute ET's around the world (don't ask if you don't already know)

4. I wish for a white christmas in Chicago (where I will be this year with Tighe)

5. I wish for my little nephews to be happy little kids for as long as possible - and to sleep well (this I'm wishing for my very tired 'mother of a 1 month old and 1 year old' sister)

6. I wish for my husband and all of my family & friends to stay healthy

Thats about it for now.

What are you thankful for? - Leave a comment an let me know.

I and thankful that I have such a wonderful family and that my daughter would write such a "smaltchy" (spelling) Thanksgiving letter to the world. I wish for "harmony" in our family and "peace" for the world. It was great to see so many "little ones" this year -- see what you started Mom and Dad -- or should I say "Granny and Grandpa"?
