This pose is called Bridge

We hiked Mt Washington last weekend. We drove up to Conway on saturday morning to hang with the Sire's and we planned on doing an overnight in Evans Notch Maine on Sunday. After playing catch with Sam and Theresa and going for a mountian bike ride we thought that perhaps the overnight was not the best idea. The last weeks of May/Beginning of June are a difficult time for the north country folk because of the Black Fly Hatch. These are nasty little buggers that cluster around your head and proceed to drive you to the brink of insanity. Anyway, we decided that the overnight might not be that fun because we would be stuck in the tent once sundown came.. so we did Washington instead. The hike was great. From the cog railway station the trip up is ~5 miles and stops at Lakes of the Clouds Hut on the way. The way down (there's a loop) skirts around the far side of Mt Clay and heads down the ridge and back to the lowland. We had great weather for this hike... about the only thing that would have made it better was having a little sunscreen. We didn't have any and the next day I had blisters on my EYELIDS from the bright sun. I guess I didn't think about how we would be above treeline for several hours, in the strongest sun of the day (1-3), and very close to the summer solstace (strongest sun of the year). Oh well, a little sunburn is worth the great day we had. Posted by Picasa
